Step 3a

Measurement of acoustic output parameters

The following parameters according to the requirements for the declaration of the acoustic output of medical diagnostic ultrasonic equipment IEC 1157- 4.2.1-4.2.2 and Standard GEFAU N 01 (Ultrasound Field Safety Classification for Medical Diagnostic Devices) will be measured.

a)

Maximum temporal average output power (maximum power)

b)

Peak-negative acoustic pressure p-.

c)

Output beam intensity Iob.

d)

Spatial-peak temporal-average derived intensity ISPTA.

e)

Distance (lp) from the transducer output face to the point of maximum-pulse-pressure-squared integral

f)

-6dB pulse beam-width wpb6

g)

Pulse repetition rate prr / scan repetition rate srr

h)

Output beam dimensions

i)

Arithmetic-mean acoustic-working frequency fawf

The measurement is done according to the requirements of IEC 1157 and IEC 1102 using a computer controlled scanning system for acoustic measurement and a radiation force balance.

The sensors used are calibrated hydrophones according to IEC 1157 and IEC 1102. The balance meets the requirements of IEC 1157 and IEC 1161. Declaration values are obtained according to IEC 1157, IEC 1102, IEC 1161 using the errors and limitations of the measurement system. You obtain the results in form of a detailed written report containing declaration values for every mode of your system.
